Use RCDefaultApp to set file or protocol associations. It works like a charm.-RCDefaultApp is a Mac OS X 10.2 or later preference pane that allows a user to set the default application used for various URL schemes, file extensions, file types, MIME types, and Uniform Type Identifiers. From the pop-up menu, choose an application that Mac OS X believes will open this document type. (Optional) If you click the Change All button at the bottom of the Open With pane, you make Pixelmator the new default application for all.tif files that would otherwise be opened in Preview.
I use Sketchup and when I export a model from sketchup to google earth (.kmz file) it opens up PhotoShop each time. I checked the info under the file and changed it to open with Google earth. It works for that particular file. However when selecting change all it gives me a prompt that says something like are you really sure you want these files to open with Google earth and I click yes, it defaults back to Photoshop. I unlocked the lock at the bottom and did it again, to no effect.. what is going on here and why doesn't is change. It works with other filetypes but not this one.
